Parking
The University does not encourage students to bring cars. Local transport links mean that the majority of students don’t need a car. There are great public transport links from Selly Oak to Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Buses in and out of the city centre run along the Bristol Road on a regular basis and there are train stations running trains to Birmingham New St on campus and in Selly Oak.
During term time parking is a major issue, particularly in Selly Oak where it can be difficult to get a parking space. The University asks you to consider whether you really need to bring your car this term, and to think about the benefit you can bring to the environment if more of you use public transport.
If you do need to bring a car make sure you are considerate of your neighbours, and ensure that you do not park your car outside local schools, as this is extremely dangerous. Cars parked haphazardly in an attempt to squeeze in closer to properties can also be dangerous, particularly when cars are parked on pavements causing people to step out into the road.
