Background to Emergency Planning at The University of Birmingham

The University of Birmingham recognises the need and importance to have specific plans and procedures in place to ensure it can continue to deliver services and teaching programs during an emergency.

What is an Emergency?

It is an unplanned disruption to normal University operations, teaching and research practices that requires special plans and procedures to be implemented to minimise disruption and help maintain service delivery.

Role of Emergency Planning:

In accordance with University legal obligations and responsibilities, prepare and maintain an emergency plan for the University of Birmingham.

To ensure that all levels of staff (including Senior Officers) involved in the University Emergency Plan are properly trained and aware of their roles and responsibilities.

To provide advice and assistance to the University during a response to an emergency.
